The metro station next to my home is the end of the line – in both meanings of the words. It is a place where the homeless gather. It is a place where drug trafficking takes place. It is a place where you can witness a fight almost anytime of the day. It is a place that the moment I enter, I feel unwell, as if something extremely uncomfortable is creeping up my spine. It is a place that like so many in Berlin combines the contrasts of this city – it is ugly and disgusting, but leads you to some extremely inspiring and interesting places in the area – which are just a couple of footsteps from this station.
